World Studies Portfolio

"Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong because then you will lose the ablility to learn new things in life and move forward in your life."

Student Electronic Portfolios

During the course of the year, students will be responsible for creating an online electronic portfolio that showcases, not only what they learn in social studies, but also the work they do in their other classes. Student portfolios are an excellent way for students to deepen their understanding of content, reflect on their learning, and celebrate their success in school.  Many colleges and universities have now started realizing the importance of e-portfolios and the connection they have on student growth and learning.  When I was getting my Masters in Literacy Education, I was responsible for creating my own portfolio that showcased my learning through the masters program.

Last year was my first year implementing the student portfolios and I really enjoyed giving feedback on the students' work and watching them grow as learners.  For the most part, the portfolios will be assigned as homework.  However, there will be occasions when students will have class time to work on their portfolios.  I highly recommend taking a moment to review and give feedback on your child's work.  I also suggest looking at other student's portfolios.  I am really looking forward to seeing my students' portfolios this year!

Thanks,

Mrs. Walters
